Upstream has released updates that appears to apply and compile correctly.
This update has not been tested by PaperMC and as with ANY update, please do your own testing

aed3aecb Make natural item dropping mimic Vanilla
These methods are used internally throughout the game for things like spawning mobs during day/night only or making them burn in daylight, etc. Now exposed for plugin usage.
